Zinc laurate is a metal-organic compound formed from zinc and lauric acid. It’s a type of metallic soap and appears as a white powder with a slightly waxy odor. It does not dissolve in water. Its formula is C24H46O4Zn, with a molar mass of about 464 g/mol, and it melts at around 129°C. Also known as zinc dodecanoate. In cosmetics and personal care products, zinc laurate is used as an anticaking agent, a dry binder, and to increase viscosity.
