Zhuk-class patrol boat
The Zhuk-class patrol boat, officially Project 1400 Grif, is a small Soviet-era border patrol vessel built for mass production. From 1969 to 1991, more than 300 boats were made, mainly for the KGB Border Troop Maritime Units, and they were exported to more than 20 countries. The design was inexpensive and simple, with a basic radar and manually aimed twin 12.7 mm guns.
After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, most boats passed to successor states, with Russia taking the bulk for its Federal Coast Guard. By 2007 only about 15–20 remained in service with Russia.
