Aston Villa's 1929–30 season, managed by Billy Smith, saw the club finish 4th in the First Division and reach the Sixth round of the FA Cup. Dicky York scored seven goals in 32 appearances during the season.

The campaign began with the Second City derby, as Villa beat Birmingham 2–1 with goals from Reg Chester and Dicky York. They then drew 1–1 at St Andrew’s in December.

A standout October match had Villa beating Leicester City 3–0 in front of a 45,000 crowd at Villa Park.

New players to debut this season included Eric Houghton, George Brown, Fred Biddlestone, Bob Brocklebank, and Jack Mandley.
