Zapp Dingbat
Zapp Dingbat is the fifth episode of Futurama’s seventh season, which aired on July 11, 2012. The story centers on Leela’s parents, Morris and Munda, celebrating their 40-year relationship. Munda reveals she divorced Morris because he stopped caring about her career and space exploration, and she begins dating Zapp Branigan, which annoys Leela. Zapp plans to marry Munda, but the ceremony clashes with an important diplomatic event with the Carcarons. Munda uses her exolinguist skills to help Zapp, and the two grow closer. Meanwhile, Morris, Fry, and Bender return to sewer surfing as Morris tries to move on. Zapp’s real plan is to trick the Carcarons into signing a peace treaty that would secretly be a declaration of war against Earth. Munda tells the Carcarons the truth, they attack, and Morris uses surfing to steer the ship and prevent disaster. Morris and Munda remarry, with Zapp officiating; Zapp tries to flirt again and is punched by Morris. The couple then space-surf back to Earth. The title references Zapf Dingbats, a font. George Takei guest-stars as himself.
