Oredo is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in Benin City, the state capital. Benin City is also the capital of the historic Benin Kingdom, and the Oba of Benin, Omo N'Oba Ewuare II, has a palace there. Oredo has four major markets: Oba Market, New Benin Market, New Market, and Ekiosa Market. Notable residents include the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, and Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom. The area covers about 249 square kilometers (96 square miles) and had a population of 374,671 at the 2006 census. The postal code is 300. The Oredo Marriage Registry is on Ring Road in Benin City and handles civil weddings.
