Yaté is a commune in the South Province of New Caledonia, a French territory in the Pacific. The Yaté Dam and Blue River Provincial Park are inside the commune. It covers about 11,338 square kilometers. In 2019, around 1,667 people lived there, mostly Kanaks. The climate is tropical rainforest, with an average yearly temperature of 23.7°C and about 2,605 mm of rain annually; March is the wettest month. The warmest month is February (around 26.7°C) and the coolest is August (around 20.6°C). The highest temperature recorded there was 34.7°C in February 2008, and the coldest was 12.3°C in August 2004. The time zone is UTC+11.
