Yahoo is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1988 by guitarist Robertinho do Recife. They played hard rock and pop rock, later often described as AOR. The group became popular in Brazil during the 1990s by making Portuguese versions of well-known hard rock songs and by having many of their tracks appear in TV soap operas and films.

Their first album, Yahoo, included Mordidas de Amor, a Portuguese version of Def Leppard’s Love Bites, which was used in the telenovela Bebê a Bordo. The next album, Oração da Vitória, featured Anjo, a cover of Aerosmith’s Angel, used in O Sexo dos Anjos. In 1990 they released Yahoo 3, which had Veneno and Somos a Luz da Manhã, songs later used in the movie Sonho de Verão.

In 1992 came Pára-Raio, with covers like Pára-Raio (a version of Kiss’s Hide You Heart) and Como o Vento (a version of Wind of Change by Scorpions); Paixão Esquecida was used in the telenovela Deus nos Acuda. The 1994 Caminhos de Sol and its title track became a big hit, with the song used in the telenovela A Viagem.

The band broke up in 1996, and the members started Yahoo Studio in Rio de Janeiro, a well-known recording studio. They returned in 2006 with Versões, an album of translated covers of songs by artists such as Journey, Kiss, and Poison.

Current members: Zé Henrique, Serginho Knust, Val Martins, Marcelão. Past members: Robertinho de Recife, Marcelo Azevedo.
