Wu Chengkang
Wu Chengkang (吴承康; 14 November 1929 – 25 December 2022) was a Chinese engineer and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was born in Shanghai and studied mechanical engineering at Jiaotong University. He earned a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1952 and a PhD from MIT in 1957. After returning to China, he worked at the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Power Research Office as an associate research fellow. In 1970 he moved to the 7th Ministry of Machinery Industry, where he worked until 1978. From 1978 he held various research roles, eventually becoming director of a Research Room at the Institute of Mechanics, CAS. His field was gas dynamics. Wu Chengkang died in Beijing on 25 December 2022 at the age of 93.
