Cai Evans, born on 23 June 1999 in Penarth, Wales, is a Welsh professional rugby union player who plays fly-half (and can cover fullback) for Dragons and the Wales national team.

He began with Cowbridge RFC and spent time in the Cardiff Blues academy up to under-16 before moving to the Ospreys after not being selected for Wales U16 or Cardiff’s academy. Evans made his Ospreys senior debut in 2017 and played in the European Rugby Challenge Cup in 2018. He signed a contract extension with the Ospreys in February 2020 and joined the Dragons in July 2023. He debuted for Dragons in October 2023 against Edinburgh and extended his Dragons contract in May 2025.

Internationally, Evans played for Wales U20 in 2018, helping Wales win the U20 World Championship by scoring important points in the win over Australia U20. In May 2023, he was named in Wales’ 54-player training squad for the Rugby World Cup 2023. He made his Wales debut in a warm-up match against South Africa, starting at full-back and kicking a late conversion. He did not make the final World Cup squad but played as a substitute against the Barbarians in November 2023. In January 2024, he was included in Gatland’s 34-player squad for the Six Nations.

He is the son of Ieuan Evans, the former Wales captain.
