- Designations: Geological Conservation Review site; part of North Downs Woodlands Special Area of Conservation; part of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; Nature Conservation Review site (Grade I); includes three Kent Wildlife Trust nature reserves and a Local Nature Reserve
- Habitat: Chalk escarpment with woodland, unimproved grassland and scrub
- Wildlife and fossils: nationally rare meadow clary; several scarce invertebrates; many well-preserved Mesozoic fossil fishes
