Williamson Road is a neighborhood in north-central Roanoke, Virginia. It borders Roundhill and Preston Park to the north, Belmont to the south, Hollins to the east, and Gainsboro and Washington Park to the west (across Interstate 581). The area is split by Williamson Road itself. The land was annexed by Roanoke in two steps: the southern part (south of today’s U.S. 460, Orange Avenue) in 1882, and the northern part in 1949. After World War II, many homes were built in a suburban style. Today, the neighborhood is home to the Roanoke Civic Center and Bowman Park.
