Kyanika
Kyanika is a small settlement in Kisoro District in Uganda’s Western Region. It is right next to the border with Rwanda, opposite the Rwandan town of Cyanika. The town is about 10 kilometers southeast of Kisoro, where the district headquarters are, and roughly 490 kilometers by road southwest of Kampala. Kyanika sits at about 1,953 meters above sea level. Its coordinates are about 1.34°S, 29.74°E.
Kyanika/Cyanika is an important border crossing between Uganda and Rwanda. The other main border crossings are Katuna/Gatuna and Mirama Hills/Kagitumba. In Kyanika you’ll find the Town Council offices and the central market. The Kabale–Kisoro–Bunagana Road extends 10.6 kilometers further south from Kisoro to reach Kyanika.
