WeatherReadyFest is a yearly public event about weather and disaster safety. It is hosted by the National Weather Association during its annual meeting. The festival offers hands-on activities and exhibits about atmospheric science. Emergency services and local broadcasters bring large vehicles to display. Celebrity meteorologists have appeared, including Nick Walker and Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel, Ginger Zee from Good Morning America, and James Spann. Exhibitors include the National Weather Service, emergency and public safety agencies, universities, FedEx, the Air Force, and NASA. The first event was in Birmingham in 2011 with about 3,400 attendees, and more than 7,500 attended in Saint Louis in 2018. Similar events are sponsored by the American Meteorological Society during their annual meeting.
