Waipahihi is a suburb of Taupō on the eastern shore of Lake Taupō in New Zealand. It is home to Waipahīhī Marae, a meeting place for local Ngāti Tūwharetoa groups, including the Ngāti Hinerau and Ngāti Hineure hapū, with the Kurapoto meeting house.

Waipahihi covers about 2.47 square kilometres and has around 2,370 residents as of June 2025, giving a population density of about 960 people per square kilometre.

In the 2023 census, the suburb had 2,292 people living in 894 dwellings. The community speaks mainly English, with some Māori and other languages also present. Most residents identify as European, with Māori, Pasifika, and Asian communities also part of the area. About 21% were born overseas. The median age is higher than the national average, with a mix of families and older residents.

Religious affiliations vary, but many people report no religion, while others identify as Christian or belong to other faiths.

Waipahīhī School is a co-educational state primary for Year 1–6, with about 396 students as of October 2025. The school opened in 1961.
