WXRL (1300 AM) is a commercial radio station in Lancaster, New York, serving the Buffalo area. It airs a classic country format and is owned by the family of Ramblin’ Lou Schriver through Dome Broadcasting Inc. The station’s studios and transmitter are on William Street in Lancaster.

Technical details
WXRL broadcasts 5,000 watts by day and 2,500 watts at night, using a four-tower directional antenna. It also streams on FM at 95.5 MHz via translator W238DD.

History
The station began in 1965 as WMMJ, founded by Stan Jasinski, known for polka broadcasts. Jasinski sold WXRL to Ramblin’ Lou Schriver in 1970, making it the first country music station in Western New York. Schriver owned it for decades until his death in 2016; his family continues to run the station. In 2018, WXRL added the FM translator at 95.5 FM. The station started online streaming in 2020.

Programming
Local hosts include Craig Matthews, Larry Jones, Lynn Carol Schriver, and Lou Five. The Drive Time Polkas show runs weekdays 5–7 pm, hosted by Ron Dombrowski, with much of the weekend devoted to polka music. Syndicated programs include Renfro Valley Gatherin’, Classic Country Today, and Country Music Greats. WXRL is a CBS Radio News affiliate and carries some local Lancaster High School sports. Advertising is light and often promotes the Ramblin’ Lou Family Band appearances and Ramblin’ Lou Tours. Milk for Health has sponsored the station since its early days.
