WWWQ
WWWQ, known as Q99-7, is a commercial radio station at 99.7 FM in Atlanta, Georgia. It plays contemporary hit radio (Top 40) for the Metro Atlanta area and is owned by Cumulus Media. The studios are in the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs, with the transmitter in Druid Hills. WWWQ also broadcasts in HD, offering two extra channels: HD2 shows a classic alternative format and HD3 plays classic hip-hop. Some listeners hear these subchannels on translators and online.
History in brief: The station started on November 5, 1963 as WLTA with an easy listening format. It later used several call signs and formats, including WARM-FM in the mid-1980s. In 1992, it became 99X, Atlanta’s influential alternative rock station on 99.7 FM as WNNX. In 2001, the CHR format known as Q100 originated on 100.5 FM and moved to 99.7 in 2008, swapping with 99X. The result was WWWQ taking the Q99-7 CHR brand. The station briefly experimented with Hot AC in 2009 before returning to CHR. On January 2, 2019, WWWQ rebranded as Q99.7. The longtime morning show The Bert Show ended in October 2024, leaving mornings without a hosted program.
