Vukota Govedarica, born March 9, 1976 in Gacko, is a Bosnian Serb politician. He has been the municipal mayor of Gacko since November 2024. He previously served in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska from 2006 to 2018 and again from 2022 to 2024. He led the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) as its president from 2016 to 2019. Govedarica joined SDS in 1999 and was elected to the Gacko Municipal Assembly in 2004. He was elected to the National Assembly in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014. In 2018 he ran for president of Republika Srpska but did not win, receiving about 42% of the vote while his rival won with about 47%. He was re-elected to the National Assembly in 2022 and became mayor of Gacko in 2024, winning about 54% of the vote. He studied at the University of Novi Sad, graduating from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in 2000, and worked as the technical director of the Gacko Cultural and Sports Center. He lives in Gacko with his wife Olivera and their two children. He is also known as a folk musician who plays the gusle.
