Kowloon Reservoir
Kowloon Reservoir is a water reservoir in Kam Shan Country Park, Sha Tin District, in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It is part of the Kowloon Group of Reservoirs. The reservoir can hold about 353 million gallons of water (1.58 million cubic metres). Construction began in 1901 and was completed in 1910, making it the first reservoir in the New Territories. It cost about $619,000 to build. In 1922, the reservoir was expanded to boost water supply, enlarge the catchment area, and strengthen the dam. After the expansion, it supplied more water to local residents and reduced the need to draw water from wells and to use the Yau Ma Tei Pumping Station.
