Cody Whitehair
Cody Whitehair is an American football guard who has played in the NFL since 2016. He was born on July 11, 1992, in Kearney, Nebraska, and grew up in Abilene, Kansas, where he played high school football at Abilene High School. He played college football at Kansas State, where he started at guard and also played tackle.
Whitehair was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft (56th overall). He began the season at left guard in the preseason after an injury to another player, then moved to center and started all 16 games as a rookie, earning PFWA All-Rookie Team honors. In 2018, he played every offensive snap and was named to the Pro Bowl, becoming the first Bears center since Olin Kreutz to reach the Pro Bowl.
Before the 2019 season, Whitehair moved to left guard while James Daniels shifted to center. He signed a five-year extension worth $52.5 million with $27.5 million guaranteed on September 1, 2019. During the season, he returned to center as needed.
Whitehair faced a few interruptions, including a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list in 2020 and a knee injury in 2022 that put him on injured reserve briefly. He was released by the Bears on February 15, 2024, and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on April 15, 2024.
Career highlights include a Pro Bowl in 2018, PFWA All-Rookie Team (2016), and multiple All-Big 12 honors in college. He has appeared in 136 NFL games, with 121 starts, as of 2024. He is listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall and 316 pounds.
