Victoria Park, Tipton
Victoria Park, Tipton is a public park in Tipton, West Midlands, England. It opened on 29 July 1901 and was named after Queen Victoria, who had died earlier that year. In 1893, 860 local residents signed a petition requesting a town park; building began in 1899 with donations and funding, and the park opened soon after. It sits on Randalls Lane in Tipton Green, which was later renamed Victoria Road. The surrounding housing developed over the next 40 years, and many of those homes still exist. The park features a large lake, tennis courts, a children's play area, and a Cenotaph from 1921 commemorating Tipton men who died in World War I, with World War II names added in 1945. A park keeper’s bungalow built in the 1930s was demolished in 2005 after falling into disrepair. Every November, Tipton Harriers run a 5k road race in the park.
