Rue d'Alésia is a major street in the south of Paris, running east to west across the 14th arrondissement. It is named after the Battle of Alesia, a defeat of the Gauls. The street is lined with acacia trees and continues east as Rue de Tolbiac into the 13th arrondissement and west as Rue de Vouillé into the 15th. It meets Avenue du Général Leclerc at Place Victor et Hélène Basch, known as Alésia, where you’ll find the Église Saint Pierre de Montrouge and the Alésia Métro station. On 8 December 1972, Mahmoud Hamshari, the PLO representative to France, was assassinated at his home on Rue d'Alésia by Mossad agents.
