Venio Losert (born 25 July 1976) is a Croatian former handball goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach for Egypt and Al Ahly.
He was born in Zavidovići, in what was then Yugoslavia, and grew up in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. He began his club career with Badel Zagreb, helping them win European Cups in 1992 and 1993 and collecting many Croatian titles.
Losert moved to Spain in 1999, playing for several teams including Zaragoza, Cantabria, Granollers, Portland San Antonio (where he won the Spanish league), and Cangas. He later played for Barcelona, Créteil, Ademar León, and Copenhagen, finishing his playing career around 2013–2014 with Vive Targi Kielce.
For the Croatian national team, Losert earned 211 caps between 1995 and 2014. He won Olympic gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games—the first for Croatia as an independent nation—and again at the 2004 Athens Games. He also helped Croatia win silver medals at the World Championships in 1995 and 2005, and he was the flag bearer for Croatia at the 2012 London Olympics. He was named Croatian Player of the Year in 1997.
After retiring as a player, Losert became a goalkeeping coach. He has worked with the Croatian national team and later with teams and national programs abroad, including Egypt and Al Ahly, where he continues to share his experience and expertise. He is known for his humble approach and steady effectiveness as a goalkeeper.
