Veerabhimanyu
Veerabhimanyu is a 1965 Telugu mythological film about the Mahabharata hero Abhimanyu. It was directed by V. Madhusudhana Rao and produced by Sunderlal Nahta and Doondi for Rajalakshmi Productions. The movie stars N. T. Rama Rao as Krishna, Sobhan Babu as Abhimanyu, and Kanchana as Uttara, with music by K. V. Mahadevan. The film was a box office success and its climax was shot in Eastmancolor. It was also made simultaneously in Tamil as Veera Abhimanyu, with a largely different cast. The film ran for more than 100 days in 12 centers in Andhra Pradesh and helped establish Sobhan Babu as a leading actor.
Plot in simple terms:
The story follows Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna and Subhadra. Even before he is born, he learns a battle tactic called the Padmavyuha from Subhadra, who overhears it in the womb. Krishna later prevents him from revealing the exit to others. Years later, during the Pandavas’ exile, Abhimanyu falls in love with Uttara. Complications arise as the Pandavas’ enemies cause trouble, leading to war. Abhimanyu bravely enters the dangerous Padmavyuha and fights hard but is killed in the trap. Arjuna vows to avenge him, and Krishna reveals his cosmic vision, offering lessons about life and fate as the tale closes.
