Roy Weir
Roy Weir (William Franklin Weir) was a left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the Boston Bees from 1936 to 1939. Born February 25, 1911, in Portland, Maine, he batted and threw left-handed. He debuted in MLB on June 25, 1936, and played his last game on October 1, 1939. In parts of four seasons, he posted a 6–4 win–loss record with a 3.55 ERA and 42 strikeouts. Weir served as a gunnery officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After baseball, he worked for New England Telephone and Illinois Bell. He died September 30, 1989, in Anaheim, California, at age 78.
