Utica, Ohio
Utica is a small village in Ohio, located in Knox and Licking counties along the North Fork of the Licking River. As of 2020, about 2,064 people live there. It was laid out in 1815 and named after Utica, New York.
In the early 1900s, Utica was famous for its hand-blown window glass, made possible by natural silica and gas. The glass industry declined after the 1929 crash and with new glass-making methods. Before the Civil War, Utica was an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Some accounts also say it later had a sundown-town history with Ku Klux Klan activity in the 1920s.
Utica covers about 1.7 square miles, mostly land. It has a public library and is served by North Fork Local Schools, including Utica High School. The ZIP code is 43080 and the area code is 740.
