Utah State Route 208
Utah State Route 208 (SR-208) is a 10.205-mile (16.4 km) north–south highway in Duchesne County, Utah, on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation in the Uinta Basin. It connects U.S. Route 40 (US-40) with Utah State Route 35 (SR-35) and is a rural, two-lane road. It doesn’t pass through any towns, but it serves as a useful western shortcut between US-40 and SR-35, reducing travel by about 31 miles by bypassing Duchesne.
The southern end starts at US-40, about a mile west of the Pinion Rest Area, roughly 6 miles east of Fruitland and about 18 miles west of Duchesne. From there, SR-208 heads north-northeast for about 2 miles to a T-intersection with 4 C’s Ranch Road (the only named side road). After a short ascent over a low pass, the highway curves west briefly, then continues nearly north, crossing the Santaquin Draw and moving through the southeast foothills of Tabby Mountain for several miles.
It then descends about 1.5 miles through Golden Stairs Canyon, crosses the Duchesne River, and heads north for the final half mile to its northern end at SR-35, about 2.7 miles southeast of Tabiona.
SR-35 runs northwest to Tabiona, Hanna, Heber City, and Park City, and southeast to Utah SR-87 (which leads toward Duchesne). In 2019, SR-208 carried about 424 vehicles per day, and traffic has grown about 93% since 1981. The route was designated in 1941 and remains unchanged, entirely within Duchesne County.
