Ust-Yansky District is one of the 34 districts (ulus) in the Sakha Republic, Russia. It lies in the north of Sakha, in the Yana River delta along the Laptev Sea coast. The district covers 120,300 square kilometers. Its administrative center is Deputatsky, a settlement that holds about 37% of the district’s population.

The population has declined since the Soviet era. In 1989 it was about 41,265 people; the 2010 census recorded 8,056 residents; the 2021 census counted 6,810. The indigenous Yakuts form about half of the current population.

Geography: The main rivers are the Yana, Omoloy (with Ulakhan-Kyuegyulyur), Sellyakh, and Chondon (with Nuchcha). The Kyundyulyun, the northern spur of the Chersky Range, lies north of Ust-Kuyga. The district has many lakes, including Orotko.

Climate: Winters are very cold, with January averages from −32 to −40 °C. Summers are cool, with July averages from +4 to +12 °C. Annual precipitation ranges from 150–200 mm in the north to 250–300 mm in the south.

Economy: The main industries are gold mining, reindeer herding, fishing, and fur trade. The district has deposits of gold, tin, tungsten, mercury, lead, zinc, and brown coal.
