University of the South Pacific Solomon Islands
University of the South Pacific Solomon Islands Campus is a satellite campus of USP, located in Honiara, Solomon Islands. It sits near Chinatown, about 75 metres southwest of Lawson Tama Stadium. The campus offers continuing and community education for USP member countries, across disciplines such as Arts, Law and Education, Business and Economics, Science, Technology and Environment, and other subjects. Courses run from 10 to 32 hours of teaching spread over several weeks, with many subjects tailored to regional needs—including computer skills, languages, bookkeeping, mathematics, economics, creative writing, community development, literature, handicrafts, and leadership and health topics.
A key USP program is distance and flexible learning, with study materials prepared at the Laucala Campus in Fiji and used across USP campuses in the South Pacific. In May 2010, Honiara hosted the 70th USP Council Meeting, where representatives from 12 member countries discussed prioritizing the development of a fourth campus in Solomon Islands.
