10 Little Rubber Ducks

10 Little Rubber Ducks is a 2005 children's picture book by Eric Carle. The story is based on a real event: ten rubber ducks fall off a cargo ship during a storm and float away in ten different directions across the sea. The book uses a simple counting format, with repetitive lines that help kids count the ducks as they drift.

Carle's distinctive collage-style illustrations are bright and bold, with lots of white space that makes the colors pop. The ducks’ journey is told in a gentle, hopeful way, and the ending has a playful, noisy finish.

Reception: Kirkus Reviews notes that Carle returns to the counting-book format, using his familiar, vivid art and friendly text. They say it isn’t his best work, but the saturated colors and recognizable imagery still appeal.

Published by HarperCollins Children's Books in the United States, the book has 36 pages.
