Ukraine at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Ukraine took part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 to 21. It was Ukraine’s sixth straight appearance at the Summer Games since gaining independence. The country sent 206 athletes who competed in 22 sports. Ukraine won 11 medals in total: 2 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze, ranking 31st in the medal table. This was Ukraine’s lowest gold total since independence, compared with 9 golds in 1996. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was Mykola Milchev, and Olha Kharlan carried the flag at the closing ceremony.
