Parkers Woods and Buttercup Valley Nature Preserve
Parkers Woods and Buttercup Valley Nature Preserve are a continuous 89-acre green space in Cincinnati’s Northside, connected by hiking trails and part of the City of Cincinnati Parks system.
Parkers Woods
- Main entrance: Haight and Bruce Avenues; other trailheads on Crawford Ave near Dane and at the east end of Thompson Heights Dr.
- History: The first parcel, 27.5 acres, was sold to the city in 1911 for $41,233.50 by Margaret Parker and her children. A second parcel was added in 1953. The park is named after Alexander Langland Parker.
Buttercup Valley
- Donated to the Cincinnati Park Board in 1973 by the Greater Cincinnati Tree Council.
- Entrance: east end of Stanford Drive; other trailheads at the east end of Northview Ave and the north end of Langland St.
Connections and improvements
- In 2011, trail markers connected the Crawford Ave trail head of Parkers Woods with the Stanford Ave trail head of Buttercup Valley, and several bridges were replaced.
- In 2010, earthen stairs were refurbished.
