Trương Gia Bình
Trương Gia Bình, born in 1956 in Nghệ An Province, is a Vietnamese businessman and one of the country’s top IT leaders. He co-founded FPT Corporation and has served as its chairman and CEO, helping the company grow from an internet service provider into software outsourcing and other IT services. Bình also serves as vice president of ASOCIO and chairman of the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA). He studied in Vietnam and the Soviet Union, earning a BSc in Mechanics and Mathematics and a PhD from Moscow State University in 1982. After FPT was privatized in 2002, he guided its expansion into new areas, including software outsourcing for Japanese companies. In 2006, he helped open FPT University, Vietnam’s first private university, and he chaired its board. Bình has been described as one of Vietnam’s wealthiest people. In 2010 he was named one of Vietnam’s Top 10 ICT Persons of the Decade (2000–2009). He received the Nikkei Asia Prize in 2013 for regional growth and for helping develop Vietnam’s IT industry. He also contributed to creating a software industry organization and a university to train IT experts. In 2012 he was appointed to the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Building.
