Roisin Conaty
Roisin Conaty (born 1979) is an English comedian, actress and writer from Camden, London. She began performing comedy at 24 after working in offices and training in film at Middlesex University.
In 2010 she won the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival for her show Hero, Warrior, Fireman, Liar. She played Jo in the Channel 4 sitcom Man Down from 2013 to 2017. In 2014 she created and starred in GameFace; the pilot aired on Channel 4, and the full series ran on E4 in 2017 and on Hulu in the US, with a second series in 2019.
Conaty also stars as Roxy in the Netflix series After Life (2019–2020). She won Heat magazine’s Unmissables Comedian of the Year in 2019.
Her TV work includes appearances on Have I Got News for You, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Would I Lie to You?, Hypothetical and Room 101, plus Live at the Apollo and Russell Howard’s Good News. She was in Taskmaster series 1 on Dave and appeared on The Big Fat Quiz Of Everything in 2021 with Rob Beckett. In 2025 she co-hosted LOL: Last One Laughing UK with Jimmy Carr.
Roisin’s parents are Irish—her mother is from Dromcolliher, County Limerick, and her father is from Virginia, County Cavan. She grew up in Camden with her sister Siobhan and spent summers in Ireland, and she has pursued a range of acting and writing projects across TV and film.
