Trévol
Trévol is a commune in central France, in the Allier department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its name comes from the Latin Tres Valles, meaning “three valleys,” a idea also shown in the town’s coat of arms. The area covers about 140.8 square kilometers and, in 2023, had around 1,643 residents. The town sits roughly 197–264 meters above sea level.
Administration: the mayor for 2020–2026 is Marie-Thérèse Jacquard. Trévol is part of the Moulins area and the CA Moulins Communauté intercommunality. The postal code is 03290.
History: Trévol prospered in the old days from its forests and mills, and the La Perche relay inn, where King Louis XIV stayed on February 11, 1692. After World War II, lime production came back, but today there are no lime kilns left.
In short, Trévol’s name reflects three valleys, a history of industries, and a quiet, small-town character.
