Public Services, Tax and Commerce Union
Public Services, Tax and Commerce Union (PTC) was a UK trade union formed in January 1996 when the Inland Revenue Staff Federation merged with the National Union of Civil and Public Servants. Its joint general secretaries were Clive Brooke and John Sheldon. The union mainly represented Civil Service workers, but also staff in other public bodies. In March 1998, PTC merged with the Civil and Public Services Association (CPSA) to form the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS). It had about 154,000 members in 1997. Headquarters were in London, England, and it operated across the United Kingdom. Affiliations included the TUC and CCSU.
