Tony Cicco
Tony Cicco, also known as Cico or Toni Cicco, is an Italian drummer and singer-songwriter born on November 28, 1949, in Naples. He comes from a family of musicians and started out in local bands. In 1969 he began working with Lucio Battisti as a drummer and, with Gabriele Lorenzi and Alberto Radius, formed Formula 3. With Battisti producing their work, Formula 3 enjoyed notable success for a while.
After the group split, he used the stage name Cico and released a solo debut, Notte, which carried the Formula 3 sound. From the 1976 album E mia madre his style moved toward the cantautore tradition. He also wrote songs for Loredana Bertè and Fiorella Mannoia. As a session musician he played on jazz and fusion projects and worked with artists such as Pino Daniele, Wynton Marsalis, Steve Gadd, Mino Cinélu, and Eddie Gomez. After his last solo album, Pà, he joined a Formula 3 reunion in 1990.
