Timothy John Greene, born in 1969 in Cape Town, South Africa, is an actor, film director, and writer. He is also known as Tim Greene and is best known for the film Boy Called Twist.

Greene found a new way to fund the movie by asking 1,000 people to invest 1,000 rand each (about US$145). By August 2003 they had raised roughly 1 million rand, with two trusts adding about 400,000 rand more. Filming took 21 days and stayed on schedule and within budget. Real street kids acted in the movie. The offline edit was shown in 2004, and the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa added another 1 million rand to help finish the film.

The film premiered on 18 November 2004 to a standing ovation at the Cape Town World Cinema Festival. In May 2005 it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in the Tous les Cinémas du Monde section. Greene also organized an outdoor screening for street kids in Cape Town. He kept all the 1,000 investors informed by email, and every Associate Producer is credited in the film, making it the longest Associate Producer credit title in history.
