Castello Utveggio
Castello Utveggio is a grand palace on a hill overlooking Palermo, Sicily. It was built between 1928 and 1933 in a Neo-Gothic, castle-like style. Commissioned by Cavaliere Michele Utveggio and designed by Giovanni Battista Santangelo, it was meant to be a luxurious home and soon became the Grand Hotel Utveggio. The hotel closed during World War II. In 1984, Sicily’s regional government bought and renovated the building to house a business management school run by CERISDI, which closed in 2016. In January 2024, the regional council approved 5.9 million euros to refit the building as a conference center.
