Tim (footballer)
Elba de Pádua Lima, known as Tim, was a Brazilian footballer and coach born on 20 February 1915 in Rifaina, São Paulo. He played as a striker for clubs including Fluminense (1936–1943), São Paulo and Atlético Junior in Colombia, and he won five Rio de Janeiro state championships. Tim earned 16 caps for Brazil and scored one goal, taking part in the 1938 FIFA World Cup (one match against Czechoslovakia) and in the 1942 South American Championship.
After retiring as a player in 1951, he became a coach, sometimes serving as a player-manager for Olaria, Botafogo-SP and Atlético Junior. He later managed many teams in Brazil and San Lorenzo in Argentina, winning the Argentine league in 1968. In 1982 he coached Peru at the World Cup—the longest gap between a World Cup appearance as a player and as a coach. Tim died in Rio de Janeiro on 7 July 1984, aged 69.
