Tight hymenal ring

Tight hymenal ring is a condition where the hymen is unusually tight and rigid, making the vaginal opening small. It can be present at birth or develop later. It is not the same as an imperforate hymen. People with this condition may have trouble inserting a tampon or having intercourse. Treatment is usually outpatient and may involve manual dilation or a minor surgical procedure to widen the opening.
