Thrum are a Scottish indie rock band from Bellshill, formed in 1992. Original members were Monica Queen (vocals/guitar), Johnny Smillie (guitar), Dave McGowan (bass), and Gary Johnston (drums). They released four singles and one album before splitting in 1995. Their debut EP appeared in April 1993 on Fire Records, with the singles So Glad and Here I Am drawing good reviews. Their first album, Rifferama, was recorded in San Francisco; Purify was the last single from that period. A second album, Archangel, was planned but never released after the break-up. Queen then pursued a solo career and did guest vocals with Belle & Sebastian and other artists. Smillie continued in music, and the band reformed in 2011, releasing a new album, Elettrorama, and playing live, including at T in the Park. Ian Greher joined on bass, replacing McGowan, and by 2013 Rory McGregor had taken over on bass. In 2013 Thrum released a two-track single, All Over Again, on Mecca Holding Co, and have since performed live sporadically.
