Boris Joffe
Boris Joffe (born 10 December 1950) is an Estonian fencer and coach. He was born in Haapsalu and studied physical education at Tallinn Pedagogical Institute, graduating in 1974. He began fencing in 1962, coached by Endel Nelis. From 1968 to 1978 his coach was Klavdi Jadlovski, and from 1978 to 1983 it was Andres Liivak.
In 1974 he finished fifth at the World Fencing Championships, both individually and with the Estonian team. He has won several Estonian championships. He was a member of the Estonian national team from 1969 to 1980 and of the Soviet Union national team from 1972 to 1980. From 1994 to 2005 he was the senior coach of the Estonia national fencing team.
His pupils include Toomas Hint, Kaido Kaaberma, and Nikolai Novosjolov. He also taught at the University of Tartu's Institute of Physical Education. In 2002 he received the IV class of the Order of the Estonian Red Cross.
