The Wilson Pickers
The Wilson Pickers are a country blues band from Australia. They formed in 2008 in Melbourne. The group has five members: Ben Salter, Danny Widdicombe, and Andrew Morris from Queensland, and Sime Nugent and John Bedggood from Victoria.
Their 2008 album Land of the Powerful Owl was nominated for Best Blues & Roots Album at the ARIA Awards. Their 2010 album Shake It Down earned another ARIA nomination.
Australian music awards: The ARIA Awards are the national ceremony for Australian music. The AIR Awards celebrate independent Australian music and began in 2006. The Country Music Awards of Australia are held each year in January at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and began in 1973.
