The Weekly True Sun was a London Sunday newspaper aligned with the Whigs. It began on 10 February 1833 (Issue 1) and ended on 29 December 1839 (Issue 331). John Ager published and printed the Weekly True Sun and the True Sun. In 1833–1834, Leigh Hunt wrote as "The Townsman" and contributed nine essays about walking tours in different parts of London. After it ended, the paper continued under new titles: from 5 January 1840 (Issue 332) to 28 March 1841 (Issue 394) it appeared as The Statesman, or, The Weekly True Sun; and from 4 April 1841 (Issue 395) to 2 January 1842 (Issue 518) it was The British Queen and Statesman.
