The Wallop
The Wallop is a 1921 American silent Western film directed by John Ford and starring Harry Carey. The film is now considered lost.
Plot in simple terms: Adventurer John Wesley Pringle returns to Gadsden to claim the girl Stella, who loves Chris Foy, a man accused of murder he didn’t commit. Sheriff Matt Lisner hunts for Chris to collect a reward. John secretly reaches the mountains, pretends to rescue Chris, and takes the reward for himself. He then forces the sheriff to release Chris, revealing that Lisner is the real murderer. Chris goes back to Stella, while John leaves without ever telling Stella that he loves her.
