The Underground Resistance is the 15th studio album by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. It was released on 25 February 2013 by Peaceville Records and runs 41 minutes and 40 seconds. The album was recorded from 2010 to 2012 at Necrohell II Studios.

Darkthrone largely moved away from the crust punk sound of their previous records and embraced a classic metal style. The music blends 1980s speed metal, thrash, black metal, doom, and a hint of punk.

Critics praised the album for its energy and fun. PopMatters called it a long, energetic ride with grand vocal moments and fast riffs, Sputnikmusic labeled it Darkthrone’s most “metal” album, and Metal Injection cited it as a strong example of “true metal.” Reviewers noted the band paying homage to classic metal while sounding youthful. Some reviews also pointed to a shift away from crust punk toward NWOBHM and power metal influences.

The Underground Resistance sits between Circle the Wagons (2010) and Arctic Thunder (2016) in Darkthrone’s discography.
