Arthroleptis vercammeni
Arthroleptis vercammeni is a very small frog from eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is also called the Mwana screeching frog or Vercammen's squeaker and is known only from its original collection site at Mwana in Mwenga Territory, South Kivu. The species was named in honor of Paul-Henry Vercammen-Grandjean.
Males grow to about 15 mm and females to about 17 mm in length. The back is brown with a distinctive pattern, the belly is orange, and the sides are mottled grey. Males have a black throat and orange-red thighs, while females have a grey throat. The fingers and toes have expanded tips. The male call has not been recorded.
It lives in leaf litter in forests at about 1,650 meters above sea level. There is little recent information on its ecology or how common it is. The IUCN lists it as Data Deficient, meaning there isn’t enough data to assess its risk of extinction. It is not known to occur in any protected areas.
