The Third String (1914 film)
The Third String is a 1914 British silent sports comedy directed by George Loane Tucker. It stars June Gail, Frank Stanmore, and George Bellamy. Produced by the London Film Company and released by Fenning Films, the film is based on a short story by W.W. Jacobs, which was later made into a 1932 film. In the plot, a man pretends to be a boxer to impress a barmaid, but his deception lands him in a real fight against a boxing champion. The movie is silent with English intertitles and was released in February 1914 in the United Kingdom.
