The Music Never Stopped (album)
The Music Never Stopped is a live album by the Grateful Dead, released on May 30, 2025. It gathers performances recorded from 1969 to 1994 and is available on three CDs or six LPs, with a total length of 232:59. The album was produced by the Grateful Dead and released by Rhino. The tracks are drawn from the 60-CD box set Enjoying the Ride, featuring at least one song from each of the box set’s 20 concert venues.
Critic Kristopher Weiss of jambands.com praised the collection, saying the producers were generous in song selection and that the sound quality ranges from quite good to sublime. He also noted that many Deadheads prefer full-show recordings, but this release provides a satisfying long, sonic journey. Note that the years refer to the shows included, not the band members’ tenure; for example, Brent Mydland plays on the 1979 tracks, not the Godchauxs.
Grateful Dead chronology: Enjoying the Ride (2025) → The Music Never Stopped (2025) → Gratest Hits (2025).
