John Exelby

John Exelby (1940/41–15 November 2019) was a co-founder of BBC World Service TV News. He studied politics at Durham University, where he edited the student newspaper Palatinate and served as president of the Durham Union. After university, he worked for The Northern Echo before joining BBC Television News, where he became news editor and led many major news programs. He also co-founded and was managing editor of BBC World TV News. He was married to Judith Hann, a former presenter of Tomorrow’s World for 20 years, and they ran a media company in the Cotswolds. Exelby died on 15 November 2019, aged 78.
